Open Space
In 2003, we began the process of creating a long-term comprehensive open space protection/management and land use plan for the South Hills in Loma Linda. Currently, this update to the Loma Linda General Plan is in review with the City of Loma Linda. Click this link if you would like to keep informed about the progress of the South Hills Open Space Plan.
How does 2000 acres of open space compare to the entire City of Loma Linda?

Should the General Plan Update gain approval from the city council, many months of additional review and approvals lie ahead before the first homes in the Tranquility and golf course project are available for sale. The South Hills Open Space Plan will preserve more than eighty percent (80%) of Mission Development Company’s land as natural open space and sensitive habitat and includes expanding Hulda Crooks Park with new amenities such as:
- New trail heads
- A community center
- Basketball and tennis courts
- Expanded parking and new restroom facilities
Total land preservation will entail protecting nearly 2,000 acres including the ridgelines and south hillsides in Loma Linda from future development---period. Mission Development strives to protect the local quality of life through thoughtful development that will be phased over 10 to 20 years to accommodate and help manage the region's progress.
We invite you to stay informed about the South Hills Open Space Plan and our efforts to protect open space and wildlife corridors, expand trails systems, and create new neighborhoods for the people and future children of Loma Linda. Please feel free to subscribe to our email list at left and we'll keep in contact.
